July is packed full of events! From fireworks to festivals, Asheville has it all this month. If you are looking to enjoy some great music, local artistry, and experience a lot of culture this summer Western North Carolina has the events for you! Check out some of the local happening listed below!

Ingles Independence Day Celebration

Ingles Independence Day Celebration in Pack Square Park will be held on 4 th of July with many family friendly activities, food trucks, and a large fireworks display. This celebration starts around 2pm with fireworks show beginning at 9:30pm.

Asheville Tourist

Come out and support the Asheville Tourist at they play the Lexington Legends on Monday, July 4 th . After the 9 th inning there will be a fireworks show that you won’t want to miss!!!

Fireworks at Lake Julian Park

Located at Exit 37 of I-26 Lake Julian Park offers a free fireworks show on the Fourth of July. This park has multiple picnic tables and grills, a playground for the little ones, horseshoe pits, and a volleyball court. This fireworks display is set to start at 10pm.

Area Happenings in July

Antique Car Show of Asheville

On July 1-2 nd you can explore of 15 acres of classic vehicles. The Mountaineer Antique Auto Car Show is one of the largest car shows in the area. Whether you are a collector, avid car lover, or just want to check out the different styles there is something for everyone at this event.

Shindig on the Green

This event is encompasses the culture of the Appalachian Mountains with a variety of musical performances. This is a reoccurring event that takes place July 2 nd , 9 th , 16 th , and 23 rd at sundown in Pack Square Park in the heart of downtown Asheville.

4 th of July Weekend at Chimney Rock

Test your rock climbing skills on Chimney Rock’s climbing tower starting at 2pm on July 2-4 th . Each person gets one free climb with their park admission. Also included in the admission is the opportunity to learn about some of the birds of prey that call our beautiful mountains home. This is great experience for all ages!

The Wizard of Oz Train Ride

Starting July 14 th the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad is helping Dorothy find her way back home! The ride begins at the Bryson City Depot (Munchkinland) and from there you will follow the yellow brick road to see the Wizard! This railway show will continue on July 14 th -17 th , 21 st -24 th , and 28 th -31 st .

Downtown After Five

Downtown after Five is a free musical event located on North Lexington Ave. The upcoming concert takes place on July 15 th from 5-9om. There will be plenty of local food and beverage venders. You must purchase at $2 wristband in order to purchase alcohol. The proceeds from the wristbands help benefit local nonprofit organizations here in Asheville who are focused on the arts and helping the community thrive.

Folkmoot USA International Dance & Music Festival

The Folkmoot festival has been a long running tradition in downtown Waynesville, NC. This giant event brings in talents from cultures all over the world to perform in a cultural parade along with many other events that showcase each countries historical traditions. The Folkmoot meaning “Meeting of the People” truly lives up to its name with people come from places like Finland, France, Peru, Japan, Mexico, and many other lands. There will even be performances from the local Eastern Band of Cherokee. Most of the Folkmoot activities take place in Waynesville, NC however, on July 29 th there will be a special Folkmoot USA Parade in downtown Asheville at Park Square.

LEAF Downtown Asheville

On July 30 th and 31 st the LEAF Festival will return to Pack Square Park in downtown Asheville. This unique festival is all about local music, local artist, and local food vendors. LEAF is a free admissions event that has so much to offer. There will be local musicians playing a variety of music and local artist will be holding demonstrations and workshops to get your creativity flowing.
