Although the season has been in full swing for a month, it really doesn’t feel like spring until Easter rolls around. In Asheville, the Easter holiday means egg hunts, delicious brunches, and some fun adventures for the family. Starting with events at Biltmore, the following is a run-down of some of our recommendations for things to do in Asheville for Easter this year.

Biltmore

One of the Southeast’s largest Easter egg hunts takes place on the front lawn of the house from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. There are two hunts for children ages 2-9 years old; the first is at 11 a.m., and the second is at 2 p.m.

Participating kids will have the opportunity to gather eggs and have pictures taken with the Easter Bunny himself. Participants must bring their own baskets for collecting eggs, and eggs can be exchanged at the end of the hunt for treat bags and a commemorative wooden egg. The hunt is open to all children with paid admission to the estate on Easter Sunday, but registration is required, beginning at 9 a.m. for the first hunt, and at 11 a.m. for the second one. Registration forms are also available on Biltmore’s website.

Brunch Buffet

Before or after the hunt, enjoy brunch at the Deerpark restaurant on the estate’s grounds. The buffet is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the cost is $56 for adults, $24 for children 10-16, and $15 for kids 6-9. Children 5 and under are free. Reservations are strongly suggested.

Antler Hill Village

More fun takes place in Antler Hill Village with live music at the Bandstand from 2-6:45 p.m.

Giant bubbles will fill the Village Green beginning at noon, sheep herding will take place in the farmyard from 1-5:30, and a grape stomp will make for some dirty feet starting at 2 at the Winery.

House Party

Don’t forget! The “Vanderbilt House Party” exhibit continues in the house until the end of May. The exhibit features reproductions of the Vanderbilts’ own clothes and jewelry, designed by costume designer John Bright.

Biltmore isn’t the only place for festive Easter fun in Asheville, though. A few other top picks are below.

Easter on the Green

This annual event takes place in Pack Square Park on April 20 from 2-5 p.m. The hunt is divided into different age groups at different times throughout the day, and is free for all kids. The farm will feature an egg hunt for two age divisions, as well as games, egg decorating, and crafts. Baby farm animals, including chicks, will be available for petting and holding, as well. Admission is free, and more information can be found on the farm’s website.

Adventure Center of Asheville

The park’s Kid Zip ziplining adventure will feature hidden Easter Eggs for kids to find. It all takes place on Easter Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. find out more on their website.
