August is full of recurring events so you will have the opportunity to maximize the number of activities you enjoy during your stay! Below is a list of some of the events taking place during August and if you don’t see anything that meets your time frame our 24 hour concierge team are here to make suggestions.

Family-Friendly

Family Animal Encounters at Chimney Rock State Park

Starting August 1st Chimney Rock State Park will hold a daily event called Family Animal Encounters where you can get an up close learning experience with many birds of prey. These animals are often found in the Appalachian Mountain range and Chimney Rock State Park is one of the best places to spot these majestic creatures. It is outdoor education fun for everyone!

Hunger Games™ Filming Locations Tour In “The Arena”

Are you visiting on a Saturday or Sunday and looking for something to do? This tour starts at 10am – 1pm in the DuPont State Recreational Forest. This tour includes a walk around the different filming locations and learn some of the secrets behind the movie. This tour also includes lunch and is a great way to get your kids outdoors.

50th Annual Shindig on the Green

Shindig on the Green is meant to inspire the community to come together and share their musical talents while appreciating the traditions of the Appalachian Mountains. This event takes place in Pack Square Park from 7-10pm on August 13 th , 20 th , & 27 th and welcomes all locals and visitors to join in the fun!

Festivals

Mountain Dance & Folk Festival

Starting August 4th and going through the 6th the Mountain Dance & Folk Festival will be happening at the Diana Wortham Theatre. This one of kind festival showcases the musical talents of many local artists including dancing, clogging, string bands, and many other acts. Come celebrate the 89 th annual event with your family and friends!

44th Annual Village Art & Craft Fair

On August 6th over one hundred artists from seventeen different states come together to share their crafts with the public. This event will be held in Biltmore Village at the Cathedral of All Souls. The types of crafts that will be on display include paintings, woodworkings, and other unique works of art. This fair is just a few blocks from the Residences at Biltmore so be sure to ask our concierge for directions!

Laugh Your Asheville off Comedy Festival

Be prepared to laugh! And with over 50 comedians this festival is sure to be a belly buster. This festival is where some of our local comedians get discovered by talent agents and some of the industry’s best representatives. This five day event starts August 9 th and continues through the 13 th.

Drink Up

2nd Asheville Homebrewers Conference

On August 13th from 12pm to 6 pm many of your local favorite brewers come together to fellowship and learn from each other. All the while they will be sharing their beers with the public. There will also be guest speakers, prizes, and much more! This event also benefits a local charity called FEAST that teaches children and families how to grow and prepare their own fruits and veggies.

Waterfalls‘n Wine in the Pisgah National Forest

Want to find some of Western North Carolina’s best waterfalls? This one of a kind Waterfalls ‘n Wine tour might be just what you are looking for! During the tour you will see six different waterfalls which will require some hiking to get to but afterwards you will be taken to Broad Street Wines in beautiful downtown Brevard, NC. This tour will happen every Wednesday during the month of August from 12pm to 4pm.
